Location:
Deserts can be found in North America, South America, Africa, and Southern Asia.
Climate:
The Desert is hot and dry all year round, usually very little rainfall.
Average temp.-100F
Average-10 inches per year
Animals:
Rattlesnake- This animal has a color that blends in with its surroundings, and it has poisonous venom.
interesting fact: The largest rattlesnake in the world is the Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake.
Tarantula- They are venomous and they have sensitive hairs that stand up when they feel motion.
interesting fact: Tarantulas are the largest known spider.
Roadrunner-They can run very fast to escape predators, and it can use its wings to deflect and striking fangs.
interesting fact: They can kill rattlesnakes.
Coyote- This animal has claws to help tear food. also, the Coyote can camouflage in the grass and rocks.
interesting fact:They don't hunt alone, normally they hunt in groups of 2-3.
Desert Tortoise- They have hard shells to protect them, and they can live a year without drinking water.
interesting fact:They can live up to 50 years.
Skunk-They have a spray when predators get too close that can make them run away, and they are able to dig holes underground to stay safe during the night.
interesting fact:Skunks are omnivores.
Plants:
Jumping Cholla- This plant is covered in silvery spines , and the stems can store water.
interesting fact:As they age they become dark brown to black in color.
Mojave Aster-They have small spike-like points on their edges, and after flowering, the plant dies back.
interesting fact:This plant grows in 3 deserts.
Ocotillo-They have very deep roots to help get as much water as possible, and the stems are covered in spines.
interesting fact: The stems grow in a "s" pattern.
Saguaro Cactus- When it rains it stores water, and its covered in spines for defense.
interesting fact: The average lifespan is 200 years.

The producer is the Ocotillo which gives nutrients to the Desert Tortoise and the Skunk. These animals are the primary consumers. Next, the Tarantula and the Coyote get their nutrients from the primary consumers. Finally these animals give nutrients to the tertiary consumer, the Rattlesnake.
How to calculate:To calculate, you divide by 10. The higher in the level you get the lower your number gets.
