The Tundra is located all over the world, in Alaska, Northern Canada, edges of Greenland, Northern Scandinavia, Northern Siberia, and Russia.
Climate:
The earth's coldest, harshest biome.
average temp.- -18F
average rainfall- 6-10 inches per year.
Animals:
Arctic fox- They have camouflaged fur, and a thick layer of body fat to help them stay warm.
interesting fact:This animal can live in harsh temperatures, as low as -58 degrees.
Caribou-They have split-hooves which help them not sink into the snow, and their noses have a special chamber for holding heat and moisture.
interesting fact:They can run 80 miles per hour.
Musk ox-They have sharp strong hooves, and defensive techniques.
interesting fact:They can weigh up to 850 pounds.
Polar bear- They have a very good sense of smell to track dead animals and they have huge teeth for tearing prey apart.
interesting fact:They have 42 teeth.
Snowy owl- They have light colouration to camouflage in the snow, and they can attack silently.
interesting fact:They are also often called Great White Owl.
Grizzly bear: They have long claws for digging out burrows of small mammals, and they have layers of fat to insulate them.
interesting fact: They can be 8ft tall on its back legs.
Plants:
Arctic moss- It grows low to the ground to avoid harsh winds, and is able to store energy even when it isn't growing.
interesting fact: Lives about 7 years.
Arctic willow-They have long fluffy hair which helps them in cold temperatures, and it produces a pesticide to keep insects away.
interesting fact:It can also be called the lounge plant because the shape of the leaves.
Bearberry: It grows low to the ground avoiding the Tundras wind, and it has leathery leaves to keep moisture and heat inside of the plant.
interesting fact:Bloom between March and June.
Caribou moss-It can survive long periods without water, and can grow with very little water and light.
interesting fact:They grow extremely slow.

Its covered a frozen layer of soil.
It is one of the deadliest biomes.

The producer is the bearberry which gives nutrients to the arctic fox and the caribou. These animals are the primary consumers. Next, the Must Ox, Polar Bear, and the Snowy Owl all get their nutrients from the primary consumers. Finally these animals give nutrients to the tertiary consumer, the grizzly bear.
How to calculate:To calculate, you divide by 10. The higher in the level you get the lower your number gets.
